Carson Molle is a 17-year-old High school student who after attempting to commit suicide in 8th grade decided that he wanted to spread awareness of mental health and teenage suicide so that he can change the general perception in society.
Carson explains how suicide does not always come as a result of long standing battles with mental health and anxiety, in fact in his case it surfaced pretty quickly.
He had always been a high achiever and was good at sports. He started to lose this sense of high achievement and after breaking his arm playing hockey he started to feel like he was letting himself and his parents down. He was feeling that he was not worthy of being here and this led to him attempting suicide on March 4th, 2017 at the age of just 14.
After the suicide attempt he felt even more of a failure and that he had let his parents down more. The gunshot wound changed his physical appearance and that has been something else that he has had to overcome as people tend to judge others on "front end" appearances.
Carson had always been close to his parents and after the attempt this relationship got even closer. He felt guilty and so did his parents but they were able to work through this and one of the main tools they used was forgiveness. This applies to both yourself and other people and it is a great source of resolution that we should all adopt.
Carson's tips for teenagers include:
There is so much more that I could write but I really want to encourage you to listen to this episode a few times to take in the wisdom and awareness that Carson shares.
Please follow him on TikTok, subscribe to his YouTube channel, and share this with as many people as you can.
Many Teenagers are suffering from feelings of depression and anxiety but most of them hide this because they feel a sense of expectation on them that they have to be perfect. Learn to talk AND listen to your teenagers and share your feelings with them too.
